Awareness will always be your biggest game, well life changer. Without it how will you or can you know? You can't, you just continue to exist, coast, scurry, or go full pelt with the same thoughts, actions and experiences. Often going no where fast but feeling exhausted, unfulfilled, unhappy and unwell.
Raising your awareness about your thoughts, your life, your goals and dreams allows you to see things as they are and to begin the necessary changes if they're not the way you want them to be.
Another way to look at it would be mindfulness or conscious living. All focus on the progress and mastery of your mind and living in the present moment. Which is all that exists. As now is the only moment, now is where miracles happen and change can occur.
So as odd as it may seem, it takes awareness to raise awareness, consciousness to grow consciousness, mindfulness to be mindful. But the ability to live in an aware, mindful and conscious state already exists within each of us. Once we acknowledge it and know it exists, we cannot become unaware of it, it's there now and from there we choose to accept it or not, act on it or not.
I'm sure many of you are already aware of this, but if it's new to you; now your aware. I hope you get super excited because it will have such a major, positive impact in your life.
Now that it's come to our attention, into our awareness (some new, some a gentle reminder) we must take action. Awareness + Action + Consistency = change. Like so many things, we can be aware of or know intellectually it's not much good to us if we don't implement it. So how? is the next question.
But before we look at that Id like to just point out the probably obvious difference in living a life without awareness, mindfulness. It is a life of just existing, going through the motions. Some may even call it sleep walking. Now it's true many seem quite content with this because it means (or is perceived as) no real pressure, no desire or force to push for or create change. But to me that's no way to live, no motivation, contribution or energy to experience and live life to its fullest, enjoying all that it has to offer and living to your greatest potential. It is a life filled with more stress, anxiety, worry that often leads to unhelpful, unhealthy coping mechanisms.
So how can we raise our awareness and start living consciously, mindfully, so we are not just living robots going through the motions. By first becoming observant, listening, noticing and feeling what's going on internally. Because your external world is a reflection of what's going on internally. This is always the first place we must look. Your body is also a great messenger, revealing areas we need to take notice of.
We can then start by asking specific, helpful, questions, by tuning in and taking notice of how we live, what we do, think and say.
Through journaling, meditation, support groups, looking to our mentors. acknowledging gratitude, feeding our minds regularly with information that helps us to grow, by searching deep within to gain clarity on the life we want to lead and then stepping it up by putting into action what is required to achieve it.
Sometimes raising our awareness can be frightening because we may uncover something we don't want to face, but as Deepak Chopra writes; "The best way to get rid of the pain is to feel the pain. And when you feel the pain and go beyond it, you'll see there's a very intense love that is wanting to awaken itself"
In saying that there is always help available to us, no matter what we face, feel or fear someone has experienced it and broken free from it, there are helplines and so many professional services and resources available.
