"A book is a devise to ignite the imagination" Alan Bennett

Books have been a major influence in my life. They can brilliantly take you on an adventure, a journey of self-discovery and growth.

Below is a list that will continue to grow, of books that inspire, challenge, bring hope, healing and enjoyment to all who take the time to open them!

Some literature stands the test of time. James Allen's 'As a man thinketh', published in 1903 is as relevant, helpful and inspiring today as I imagine it was when it was first published.

You can read this literature treasure freely on line in an hour.

Much of my life has been transformed and enriched from the amazing books I have read. This is another of my favourites. The name coaxed me in one day while perusing the library. Then I read it and loved it.

"Happiness is a certain state of mind. It is a matter of training your mind to simply be happy. No other stimulant is as powerful as your own mind. Happiness cannot be measured with a ruler, no insurance covers unhappiness and no doctor can cure it - only you can make yourself happy, others can only assist!" Harald W Tietze.

Enjoy :)

This is a book I've read many times. The magic, the mystery and the completely different take on life, captivates me every time I read it.

An inspiring message amongst a wonderful story.

It's the story of Michael Thomas, a seemingly ordinary man who represents the American icon of normalcy and discontent. When faced with a near death experience he is visited by an Angel who asks what it is that he really wants from life. You'll travel with Michael on his wondrous, metaphysical journey and discover truths, possibilities and things about yourself.

Unique and inspiring is 'The Journey Home'

This is one of the simplest, easy to read books in the world of personal development. I stumbled across this little gem over a decade ago, printing a free copy that I still have to this day. My copy now is old, it's tattered and highlighted throughout, but I still love it. Here's the link if you'd like to get a free copy link.

Notes from a friend is short, concise, foundational and well worth the read. Written by one of the greatest philanthropists and motivational speakers of our time. Anthony Robbins.
Enjoy

Florence Scovel-Shinn 1871 - 1940, was one of the pioneers in the new-age thought movement. Her words have helped generations live happier, healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Although her writing has biblical references, her teachings, written decades ago share truths that science has since proven. As quoted from her book The Game of Life and How to Play it; “Man can change his conditions by changing his words” and “Man can only receive what he sees himself receiving”.

A recommended read full of wonderful insights and easy to understand and apply rules for success and happiness.

My own book, published in 2014 by Balboa Press, a division of Hay House “Dare to Dream, Your Journey of a Lifetime”.
I wrote it with humility, gratitude and a deep desire to help people discover the greatest relationship they will ever have. The relationship that affects all others, the one you can never hide from – The relationship you have with yourself.

When you can love, embrace, accept and forgive yourself you can create a life you desire and deserve. A life full of love, meaning and joy.

One of the quickest books I’ve ever read. It will take 20 minutes of your life to read but has the power,  if taken on board to enhance the rest of your life.

Simple, powerful, extremely beneficial and well worth that 20 minutes!

The Seven Day Mental Diet by Emmet Fox, 1963.

A book I've read a number of times, watched on DVD and listened to on audio.
Dr Gary Chapmans “The 5 love languages”

I believe this one is a must read for any couple, even those not currently in a relationship. It opens one’s eyes to an aspect of relationships that many wouldn't consider, let alone know. Reading (watching or listening) to Gary Chapman's 5 Love Languages will enhance your relationship and is well worth your time.

The audios are great for something different. Having someone read to you allows you to close your eyes, relax (try not to fall asleep) and just get consumed by the words and the lessons. Offcourse the DVD is great too if your with someone who isn't particularly fond of reading. I have referred many a client to using this wonderful resource also.

Audio version by Gary Chapman himself

‘Man's search for meaning’ by Dr Viktor E Frankl, published in 1946.

Dr Frankl, was a Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry, who’s writings have been called ‘the most important contributions in the field of psychology since the days of Freud, Adler and Jung.

This is one of the most moving books I have ever read.

As a psychiatrist Dr Frankl takes you on his journey as a prisoner in the Nazi concentration and extermination camps in Auschwitz. It is, in many parts horrific and hard to comprehend the cruelty and discrimination that man can inflict on another man, but it is also a truly remarkable story. Humbling and educational when one can see and apply the lessons throughout its content to their own life.

As quoted in the preface “Viktor Frankl’s' Mans search for Meaning' is one of the great books of our time. Typically, if a book has one passage, one idea with the power to change a person’s life, that alone justifies reading and re-reading it and finding room for it on one’s shelves. This book has several such passages”.It is not a light read and I cannot say, as I normally would “enjoy” but I will say for those who read it you will grow, learn and discover a meaning for your own life and I might add surely acknowledge the multitude of gratitude’s so many of us today take for granted. One of many great takeaways quoted by Dr Frankly is “He who has a Why to live for can bear almost any How” Nietzsche.I could continue and share so much of what I gained from this book but I would highly recommend reading it for yourself to gain your own meaning.I often say when you come across a book that is highly recommended by those who you admire or inspire you, jump on it. All the many inspiration people I look up to and admire have said read “Man’s search for Meaning”.

So I did, and I say thank you otherwise I might never have come across it.

A book that you will find on nearly all of the 'must read in your lifetime' lists, found on numerous Internet book sites.

Napoleon Hill's 'Think and grow rich', published in 1937 at the end of the Great Depression.

Another of the, you might say old school books but one that is evergreen. The stories, information and tools shared in this book are none other than brilliant and inspiring.

I am sure you'll enjoy what this book has to offer as much as I did and the millions of others who have taken the time to soak up its knowledge and apply it. This is a truly inspirational book that is much more than its title suggests.

Raw truth, honesty and inspiration! From start to finish.

One man's journey of inner battles and triumphs. A great read. But this time on PD for Life's R & R I'll share the words straight from Mastin himself:

"I’ve benefitted most from hearing about how people that inspired me got through the tough times of their lives. And I’ve been so appreciative of those who have been honest and forthright about parts of their lives that many other people would hide or not talk about. Their doing this made me think, “If they can do it, so can I.”

That’s why I wrote my new book, “Daily Love: Growing into Grace” – I wanted to share with you the ugliness, the messiness and the not-so-perfect journey that I went on from crisis to Grace."

One of my absolute favourite, must read books! I bought this one also as an audio. I love listening to people read their books to me while traveling or lying somewhere comfy, relaxed with my eyes closed.

Shift Happens was narrated by the author himself, Robert Holden. I can't express fully how much of a treat it was. Listening to Robert share his book was like listening to an angel, love personified. I highly recommended it. It's packed full of wisdom, love, inspiration, I mean it's literally busting out of the seams. Applicable to anyone and everyone who wishes to grow.

21 Days to master success & inner peace. Just one of many brilliant books by Dr Wayne Dyer.

Dr Wayne Dyer is truly one of the greats! Although he sadly passed away this year his work will always remain, inspiring, motivational and full of beautiful ways to grow in love and life. One of my favourite lines from the book is "If you think peaceful thoughts, you'll feel peaceful emotions and that's what you'll bring to every life situation.

Dr Wayne Dyer reminds me of my pop, another great man & gentleman. My memories of him are filled only with love, wisdom and kindness. And of course his beautiful smile & waltzing together (well me trying too) across many a lounge room floor. He even danced with his grandsons! Beautiful xxx.

There is so much we can learn from these beautiful souls who lived a life of love and service.

A note from the universe...

"The secret behind miracles is that the ones performing them begin without any knowledge whatsoever of exactly how they will succeed. Yet still they begin. When you move, I move. The Universe. P.S Once again, taking action saves the day"

I recommend getting your copy of Leveraging the Universe today, an afternoon of reading that will be very well spent!

This one was a lot of fun and definitely got me thinking and super productive. If you’re an entrepreneur or looking to be one or just looking for a different way to create the lifestyle you know you deserve, then read Timothy Ferriss’s ‘The 4 hour work week’.

This book is jamb packed with ideas, resources, fun and a new way of thinking as Timothy talks about the ‘new rich’. Definitely worth a read if you’re tired of the hamster wheel.

There are books that move you, and there are books that catapult you! This is one of those books!

If you've been privileged to have seen Brendon Burchard, his work, videos, training or courses you'd know this man has the ability to lift, inspire, and motivate every one.

This is a brilliant personal development book and highly recommended. Motivation Manifesto is magnificent. You'll grow, you'll reflect, you'll ask yourself very important questions that can really shift and change your life.

This is a book you'll want to read more than once.
