"Quotes"

“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened.

Happiness never decreases by being shared” Buddha

Facebook is chock-a-block of quotes - everywhere you look, someone's posted a short, positive, quote (yes I've posted them too).

They seem to annoy some, but for many of us they give us a little pick me up, sometimes even an 'aha' moment!

Personally I love them. Because they come from someone's heart and personal experience, many from an authoritative figure. So we feel reassurance, guidance and hope in their words.

Recently I saw one that really moved me; I hit the like button instantly, wishing Facebook had a 'love' button at the same time. It was posted by a good friend of mine and written by someone who inspires me, Louise Hay. It simply read:

"I don't fix problems, I fix my thinking and then problems fix themselves"

So brief and yet so powerful!

I'm writing about it today to remind us all of the power of our thoughts!

We all have "problems" we want to "fix" but it is through the awareness, focus and choice of our thoughts that our problems; grow and we suffer, dissipate or get the right attention to solve them for our highest good and the highest good of all.

So the next time you're faced with a problem and feel lost, disheartened or you feel there isn't an answer, remember this short powerful quote and straight away check in with the thoughts you're having about the problem you face.

Try using empowering questions to help you work through any problem you face, because staying stuck in worry, hopelessness or helplessness won't help you solve anything (you just suffer longer). And there is always an answer!

Empowering questions:

- What is the problem? Define it

- What are my options?

- Have I looked at every possibility?

- What result or outcome do I want?

- What steps do I need to take to get there?

- What can I learn from this problem?

- What is the silver lining to this problem?

- Have I faced a similar situation in the past? How did I deal with it then? Did it work? Is there something else I haven't tried?

- Is there someone that can help me? (an expert, a friend, a counsellor, a mentor)

- What areas do I need to accept, acknowledging that I cannot change or control them?

- What can I love in the process of achieving my desired outcome?

P.S Keep posting your beautiful, inspiring quotes - you never know who might read them, it may be just what they need!

I welcome your comments, thoughts and feedback
